Why I am at Milwaukee Area Technical College

Why I am at Milwaukee Area Technical College

I am at Milwaukee Area Technical College due to the fact that the company I worked for Rock-Tenn closed its doors on July 17, 2011.  This was my third plant closer employment I have faced in less than 13 years.  When rumors started at the company were closing I made the decision to return to school and earn an Associate degree.  IT Networking Specialist program was my choice.  I have learned a lot from this program and the Instructors are amazing with tons of experiences.  Family member always called to help them connect to the internet when they bought routers.

Fascinated by computers when I was a young kid my Dad gave me my first Tandy computer from Radio Shack.  Remembering, how the dos screen would be in the display as soon as I powered on the computer.  I found myself playing with it including taken the computer apart and putting them together.  But, I always wanted to know how everything worked.  How all those chips and processors worked?  How can a phone line sent messages from the computer out to the internet.

I once was told that I didn't have a future growing up because, my family was not educated.  This was a challenge I made a decision that I will find a way to be better for me and my children.   And yes, I had to put my dreams of earning a higher education on hold to raise my children.  So, without a job God had blessed me with a chance for a free education.  So, I push forward, made on the Dean List I am more motivated to move forward.

Hopefully, I would like to open a Information Technology Club at our Downtown Campus I will keep you post.
