Before, I started my internship I did not know what to expect. I asked fellow student who have completed their internship and most had horror stories about their experiences. So, I was taken back a little and wondered how my experience would be. I really did not know exactly what to expect. I got called in for the interview back in April I meet with Mike, Jeannie, and Naaji The Zion 6 Tech Team. I had my resume I had assemble in my Social Communication class this pass spring got dressed real professionally and off I went to the interview. To my surprised they were amazed for how much Milwaukee Area Technical College instructs their students. I was asked about my courses that I have been taken and what I am planning to do when I graduate. I told them that I would like to find an employer who is willing to help pay for college reimbursement. That, I would like to continue on my studies in Information Technologies. Jeannie said to me "this is not a princess job, you will get dirty break finger nails." I smiled and pulled out my resume and said "I don't have a problem with that I can get down and dirty." They all said WOW after looking and passing my resume around the table. I smile and said I work on my own car and was a property owner. I had to learn many different skills, which I've have learn at MATC.
So, I started asking them about their education and how long they have been working at Zion each one had rely their information and then I asked if they were using Cisco products, Vmare products, Date center, Servers, and Voip. Each one answered all my questions. At the end of the interview they asked if I can start July 1, and I said, "yes that would be great." A week later I get a call asking me if I had expected the internship I said " I would be honored to."
My job was to update bios, windows, reconnect computers, smart boards, projectors, clean computer equipment and laptops. Inventory in Excel, label equipment, and store them. Fix laptops keyboards, replaced DVD players on laptops. Adding new cabling and remove old or broken ones. Making cables with RJ45's ends.
I would like to thank Tech Team at Zion District 6 for giving me a chance to intern for you. I also would like to thank my families who supported me on this amazing quest and you know who you are 10's, Rod, and my patient son's who week after week drove to another State early in the morning, I love you guys.
